Larano Coastal and Forest Walking Tour – Tour Description

Larano Coastal and Forest walking tour takes you walking in a stunning northern coastal trail always hearing the ocean below.

This tour starts on the country side of Porto da Cruz village in a place called Larano (330m), where you walk along 4,5km in a mostly flat coastal trail always by the shore hearing the ocean from a higher level while seeing this beautiful steep cliffs till you get to Boca do Risco.

After this stunning part of the trail you start the big climb to the forest area. It’s a 1km steep uphill with about but you’re rewarded by some breathtaking views over these Larano coastal cliffs (vertigo alert).

Once you reach the forest you find a completely different scenery walking along 4,5km surrounded by the humid native laurissilva forest.

Up in the forest you’ll walk slightly uphill first in a forest dirt road and then you’ll enter a trail deep inside the forest till you reach the last downhill.

This last downhill it’s steep but with some small steps that makes it easier to walk it. However, the walking poles might be useful here.

Additional Information

The tour is 11km long and it takes approximately 3 hours to do it. The terrain is made of dirt, sometimes muddy, and rocks and roots. It also have a couple of rough steps.

We consider this tour for intermediate fitness level (4 out of 5) because of the steep uphill and downhill.

If you suffer from hard vertigo this may not be the best tour from you because we pass near some sheer drops.
