Green Levada Running Tour is the trail running experience that you must book if you like forests.

This tour starts on Poiso (1412m), where you can have a coffee before you start and heads down to Ribeiro Frio area (900m). Here you have reach the levadas level where you also have a trouts vivarium.

First we will run in a green levada to the scenic Balcões viewpoint, where you have a panoramic view to the highest peaks. Here you also have a view to the north side of the island.

From this viewpoint we still have 4,5km of green levada to run by the named Levada do Furado always following the water and surrounded by the humid laurissilva forest.

We’ll go back to the start point following an old upstream levada that takes you deep inside the forest and later to the same area we came down and finishing by an old stony path under huge cedar trees back to the start point.

The track is a loop of 15km and about 500m elevation gain/loss. The terrain is made of dirt, sometimes muddy, and rocks and roots.

In this tour you experience how great and relaxing it is to run on a Levada surrounded by green and humid native forest and stunning views to the mountains.

This tour is made for all fitness levels, even if you’re not an experienced runner.

This is a must do activity while in Madeira.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This is a shared tour with other guests. Your running pace might be different than the other participants during the tour, therefore we will ask you to be comprehensive and avoid moving away from the group.
